WHAT IS POWDER METALLURGY?

Powder Metallurgy is a continually and rapidly evolving technology embracing most metallic and alloy materials, and a wide variety of shapes. Is the science of molding metals parts from metal powders to exact dimensions. The resultant product is equal to the parent metal and many times offers additional features. Often it´s natural porosity provides benefits of flow, oil retention or heat dissipation that broaden the designer’s scope. When it is necessary to obtain combinations of properties, the mix of selected metal powders offers one product with a diversity of uses. Metal powders are selected for size, shape and ultimate usage. They are blended with lubricants and subsequently molded in steel dies at pressures up to 100.000 PSI to get the compact of a desired shape
